Coochie gets Artificial Reef

ANGLERS in the Redlands will have two more artificial reefs to drop a line off by the middle of next year.

After more than two years of debate, the State Government announced at the weekend that an artificial reef would to be built west of Peel Island and another to the east of Coochiemudlo Island.

The two proposed reefs were part of a March 2009 $2 million Bligh government election commitment, which promised to build six artificial reefs in Moreton Bay.

Making the announcement, Climate Change and Sustainability Minister Kate Jones said the Peel Island reef would cover about 50ha and the Coochie site would be about 15ha.

Are you looking for another way to entertain the kids during the September School Holidays?  Bring them to Coochie for some fun on the beach!  Saturday the 18th September is our official opening weekend for the beach hire gear and we will be operating everyday of the school holidays and then every weekend after the holidays  until the end of May 2011.  Weather dependent of course.  So bring the kids over to have some fun playing on the kayaks, canoes and aqua bikes while you sit and relax under the trees.

Of course our Tinnies and BBQ Pontoons are available year 'round so if you're up for a bit of fishing or exploring the island by boat just call to check availability.  Bookings are definitely recommended.

Our most recent addition to the fleet is a 6 metre custom built BBQ Pontoon.  The barbie pontoon comfortably takes 10 people, comes with all safety equipment and includes gas for the BBQ, fuel for the boat and no boat license is necessary.   With the new layout, getting on and off the boat is easy and there is plenty of room for everyone and your gear, eskies, etc.

It is available for hire now and is $220 per day or $150 for an Half Day.
